Flying Unicorn Gives Back - Blog Hop

Hello & Welcome to the first stop on the hop !

Every year in the month of November, Flying Unicorn sponsors "Flying Unicorn Gives Back." This year, we've chosen a nationally recognized charity, Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah.

For each project that is uploaded to our forum gallery, Flying Unicorn donates $1.00 to a maximum of $1,000 and. we've always reached our goal. With your help this year we will again.! Flying Unicorn also donates 5% of all sales during the month of November to the charity. Finally, do not forget to mark your calendars for our Silent Auction November 8th - November 16th .

We have set up the Flying Unicorn page on the Best Friends site where monetary donations can be made as well to help us reach this years goal of $3000.00 in charitable donations.

Best Friends' mission of No More Homeless Pets tries to place dogs and cats who are considered "unadoptable" into good homes, and to reduce the number of unwanted pets through effective spay and neuter programs. Since its inception, the number of dogs and cats being destroyed in shelters has fallen to approximately 5 million a year. There has been much progress,but there is still much more to do. Best Friends made national headlines with their intensive efforts in rescuing so many animals in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina..

In honor of Best Friends, and the November Kit of the Month -Hear'ts Twilight - I would like to share with you the extra special project I made using the Kit of the month :

A home for Fiffi !!

I know, such a typical poodle name, but I could not resist! My layout Mojo has been missing in action for awhile now, and speaking to Maggi she suggested a dog house project (thank you) and I ran with the idea!! I found a DIY diagram for a real doghouse on line (thank you Home Depot) and scaled the dimensions way down so that one12x12 sheet of paper (Delightful ) was used in its creation. The roof , well that used one full 12 x 12 sheet as well (Delicious) and a Fiskars punch, but we could not have Fiffi get wet! Fiffi was a gifted to me by Maggi and manufactured by Fabscraps. I used puffy paint to create her fur and a marker to make her bow pink-er than pink !!

Project would not be complete without some potted flowers (every project needs flowers) and the cardstock add on was used to create the leaves.

Alley Cat and Princess, those are buttons from my stash and sit on the fence that was created using the cardstock add on, cottage cutz fence diecut and embossed with aged embossing powder from the store.
