Christmas Cards

Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time.

Its Christmas card time! Christmas  boxes are  down,  glitter is  out, snow in a bottle sits on the desk and poinsettia dies.  This year  I  have been determined to use my stash  of  papers and  Christmas  embellishments  ..

A  few  layers of  paper, lots of  glitter, some bling, bunches of poinsettias and one  card down (okay  I usually  make  two at a time - so two cards done)

Special Holiday Christmas Tags

“Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.”
― Charles M. Schulz
There are some people on the Christmas list where a little extra tag is to adorn their Christmas gift. These were made with simple white card stock and  extra flowers with bits and  pieces of ribbon and  bling.  An easy  project  for a  lazy Sunday  but they will be  treasured  by the receiver.

Winter Wonderland

“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and

warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk

beside the fire: it is the time for home.”
― Edith Sitwell

Its all gone or 99% of it - the  new collection from Studio 75 Winter Morning and  I loved every piece of it!  So easy and pretty to create with . An altered box to hold  some  holiday candy . The  little houses are from my stash and I had them forever  -  but there are some great templates on Pintrest to create your own little box village.  Covered with paper and   micro  glitter gives it a cold and warmth vintage feel.  Not many  flowers,  just  enough and the  Winter Wonderland laser cut is from Creative Embellishments.

Warm Winter Wishes

Warm Winter Wishes for an
enchanted holiday season

Getting my tags on! Using up stash  (Ruby Rocket Collection) and diecuts to create  my holiday tags that will be ready to adorn  presents for  teachers and friends...  I am so   far from my account.
Adding some snowflakes and poinsettia's  you can  really  turn any papers you have on hand into pretty cards and tags.

Winter Wishes, Snowflake Kisses

Hard at work like a little elf, getting my  Christmas cards done ...
The  digi stamp from Shari Baldy are  just too cute and can  be  bought from her etsy store.  The papers are the new Magnolia Collection- Winter Wonderland which are  a  beautiful deep vintage  elegant tones and so easy to work with.  The  poinsettia are hand made and  I  use the  Cheery Lynn  design Poinsettia die cut - they were a perfect size for this card.
The holly and the  laser cuts are  from Creative Embellishments - just  love love them .

Directions to Christmas

It's always good for us to pause
And think awhile of Santa Claus--
That jolly symbol we revere
When we approach the changing year.
Behind his beard so long and white,
In which our children take delight,
There beats a heart from color free
Which bids all children "come to me."
MARSHALL M. MORGAN, "The Spirit of Santa Claus"

when I saw the  new Studio 75 Collection- Winter Morning  it was  a must  in my world! The  soft pastels of Christmas filled the pages with  greens, blues and grays  - this collection is a  Christmas wish coming true! I know I will be making cards from the  pieces I have  left  but  mojo  brought me  to an altered project and a  Christmas birdhouse to create. The Birdhouse is a template from the Silhouette store, and the stand - simply a box and rolled paper.

The bird is a handmade resin along with the bird nest below painted with 13@rts paint Cobalt Blue (I think that has become my favorite 13@rts color.) Flowers from our etsy store and the  use of  diecuts from my stash to create the holly swirls.

Christmas Time

“Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of

kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in

spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time.”
― Laura Ingalls Wilder

This was a   fun creative  project .  I removed the glass - that was a  little  to figure out - but a set of pliers the screws inside unscrewed easily and I took away the metal holders of the  glass too .

The outside  I used 13@rts gesso, 13@rts micro beads and Stampendous Chunky White Embossing Powder . The Christmas tress and the holly are the  beautiful  laser cuts by Creative Embesslishments   which can be found in the store too .

I used  lots of  items from my stash including  flowers from Prima/ Petaloo and  Flying Unicorn.

Play Date Thursday - An Open Book

 Christmas is not an
eternal event at all,
but a piece of one's home
 that one carries
in one's heart. -  Freya Stark

Its Playdate Thursday - so lets play!!

There are times when a simple square or rectangle card just gets boring and  we need to spice up our mojo  - so lets get going!

I have created this "open book" card that can act as the actual card (since I embellish way to much to close it) or if you are the clean and simple type when you have  the  base done you will see that you can  decorate the  outside of the "book card" and the inside will be that like a story book.

The template is below - just click on it and save it to your computer or you can head over to the  file tab in the forums and  download it in  pdf format . If you have any questions send me a note !  Happy creating !

G The die cut images are  from the new Pion Collection Days of Winter. everything is edged with Ingvlid's Bolme Chalk Inks - love them way too much ...adding that  vntage feel  to the card book.
